Continental Automotive Co., Ltd. Utilize RoboCar 1/10 for new employee education
At Continental Automotive Co., Ltd. as part of a training program for new recruits,we have introduced RoboCar 1/10 of our autonomous operation development platform.
RoboCar® 1/10 introduced with Continental Automotive Co., Ltd.
Currently, in Continental Automotive, in order to respond to the current situation where the technology required by customers becomes more diverse and deeper,
as Continental's unique training program for Japan,
We have introduced the J. DRIVE program which intensively educates and trains for 2 years with the aim of fostering new employees as an engineer as soon as possible.
In this program it consists of basic training, technical training, factory training and OJT training and the task of using RoboCar® 1/10 in a curriculum promoting a project by teaming up with one of the basic training. We will give it to the team, consider control algorithms for the problem, implement implementation such as coding, run and compare prediction and actual traveling and build control.
As part of the development of control, three to four people share a single vehicle, creating a vehicle and making designated driving is given as a task. Examples of such tasks include white line detection traveling, obstacle avoidance, row running, garage putting in etc. By working in a team to solve the problem you can learn the knowledge as a system.
As a meaning of introducing this RoboCar® 1/10, while automobile systems are becoming complicated, we can grasp the technical knowledge of mechanical + electric + software and develop human resources capable of developing with a broad perspective by working with points and teams you can also see teamwork, beam building power and the effect of improving schedule management ability through the project. In addition, we do not use actual cars, but we take in the program because it is small and it can test the sensing and control without taking space.

About Autonomous Driving development platform RoboCar® 1/10
RoboCar® 1/10 is a 1/10 size automobile research and development platform of a real vehicle that can carry out computer control with various sensors. The included software development environment (SDK) contains an API (Application Programming Interface) and sample programs that are necessary for controlling RoboCar® and the user can control the vehicle with its own program.
Various options and packages are also available to respond to a wider range of R & D and training needs. "Front and rear laser range sensor set" equipped with laser sensors in front and behind to grasp the situation around the vehicle in a wide range, a dedicated PC for remote control, a Wi-Fi router, and a steering controller for remote control experiment customers. There is "RoboCar® 1/10 MATLAB connection 2017" which added "RoboCar® 1/10 remote operation package", a library for connecting MATLAB and RoboCar® 1/10 2016 and a vehicle model for route design.
