2 Where will the test drive be carried out?
Below mentioned are the different types of test drives.
The place where the test drive is carried out is roughly divided into three.
The first test is a test drive on a closed test course, the second is a test drive inside the facility, and the third is a test drive on the public road.
2.1 Test drive on test course
The driving test in the test course is also classified into three, they are the test in which the driver runs, the test in which the robot runs, and the test utilizing the Autonomous Driving technique.
2.1.1 Driver Test drive
For tests on which the driver runs, it runs various courses that exist on the test course.
There are courses such as oval course, horizontal road, rough road, flooded road, low μ road, unpaved road etc.
In addition, this test course is in many parts of the world, in Japan as well, Hokkaido in the north, Kagoshima in the south.In order to simulate the running environment, each manufacturer owns a test course in various places and conducts the test.
In order to carry out this test run, which is the occupation of a test driver, and the amount of the test requires a pattern by the multiplication of the environmental conditions (temperature, weather, atmospheric pressure, etc.) ,stages of examination tests and vehicle models, and it is prepared by enormous performance tests by the test driver.
Test drive in ADAS development

2.1.2 About running test using robot
As mentioned in the test run by the above driver a little, the test drive has various conditions and driving with the course, there are enormous test evaluation. In order to efficiently and safely proceed with the test, running tests using robots have been developed.
Robots for moving the vehicle itself and robots for building test environments are utilized as a test drive on a test course using a robot.
Run test using robot in ADAS development
In the test drive using the robot in the ADAS development, using a balloon-type car-using case or a robot that can move a dummy doll to prevent damage to the vehicle even if it collides with the test, the pseudo intersection and road.There are cases to reproduce the traffic environment around the vehicle such as jumping out and traversing the road.
The test using the dummy robot will be used for the development and validation of the new ADAS algorithm and the operation of the developed ADAS sensor because the drivers and vehicles on board do not break significantly at the time of a collision. There are also types that can control steering wheel, brake, accelerator, clutch, shift gear, for Autonomous Driving trucks of actual vehicles, and its applications are utilized in tests where test drivers such as sudden braking, collision, rollover and the like are exposed to danger.There are cases where you run a fixed pattern like a durable running etc.

2.1.3 About the test course using autonomous technology
Running test using the autonomous operation technology is not yet common but the reduction of labor costs, labor saving are the reason for the increasing needs, thanks to efficiency of the test and its high reproducibility.
