Announcement of CarriRo® DPS, Logistics support robot CarriRo®AD in conjunction with digital picking system

-Cooperation between automatic transfer and DPS, saving labor in picking and preventing work errors-

ZMP Inc. in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo (CEO, Taniguchi Hisashi, hereinafter ZMP) and Nippon Filing Co., Ltd. Head office in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo (President, Jotaro Tajima, hereinafter Nippon Filing) to introduce CarriRo® DPS: CarriRo® AD (Autonomous Movement Model) linked with the digital picking system (DPS). This makes it possible to realize automatic conveyance simultaneously when using DPS and contributes to significant labor saving in picking work and improvement of workability by preventing work errors.

When linking CarriRo® and DPS, CarriRo® sends an instruction to DPS by using CarriRo®'s external device linkage function and reaching a specific landmark. It becomes a mechanism that lights up a specific display unit of DPS in the corresponding area and displays the quantity. As a feature of CarriRo®, flexible route design is possible anywhere. By simply retrofitting the existing shelf with a DPS display, it can be used smoothly in existing centers and factories where work flow and layout are already fixed.

By utilizing this CarriRo® DPS, the following operations are possible.

・ Collaborative Solution 1: Assuming picking of goods in the warehouse
The picking area where DPS is installed is classified into zones, and variable landmarks corresponding to each are installed. The CarriRo® will then stop at the location of the variable landmarks in the zone where picking needs to occur, and in that zone will light up the shelf indicators that need picking. Once picking is complete and items are loaded onto the CarriRo®, the CarriRo® will also automatically drive to the zone where the next picking is required.

Operation flow
1. Connect the CarriRo® and the work batch on the DPS handy terminal
2. DPS executes stop / passing instructions when passing landmarks. The color of CarriRo® corresponds to the color displayed on the display
3. The zone without picking passes and travels to the next working zone
4. After the picking operation is complete, give an automatic run instruction to CarriRo®
5. CarriRo® stops in place after picking




・ Cooperative solution 2: Assuming picking of parts of each process in the factory
CarriRo® is connected to a shelf with DPS installed, and the shelf contains parts necessary for each process. CarriRo® is set to stop automatically at each process, and after stopping at the process, lights up the DPS indicator of the parts necessary for the process and displays the quantity. The worker of each process picks the necessary parts and completes the work.

Operation flow
1. Register parts and quantities for each location from the DPS terminal
2. Link the CarriRo® to the mobile shelf with the DPS handy terminal. Automatic running starts after completion of tying
3. When passing landmarks, DPS indicates stop / pass.When the parts supply position is reached, the lamp of the same color as the line lights up on the display and the picking quantity is displayed.
4. After the picking operation is complete, give an automatic run instruction to CarriRo®

This function is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2019.The price details and launch date will be announced at ZMP World 2019, which will be held from July 23 to 26. In addition, demonstrations and operation methods by actual machines will be introduced within the CarriRo® EXPO.

The logistics support robot CarriRo® is a product developed using ZMP 's Autonomous Driving technology.
