Released a video demonstration of Autonomous Driving small EV bus at Chubu International Airport

-World's first taxiway crossing system and remote operation-

ZMP Inc. in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo (CEO, Hisashi Taniguchi) has released a video of a demonstration test with an autonomous vehicle in the restricted area of Chubu International Airport conducted from December 16th to December 18th, 2019.

In this demonstration test conducted by AIRO Inc. (hereinafter “AIRO”), a joint venture of Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter “Marubeni”) and ZMP Inc. on autonomous driving in the airport restricted area sponsored by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. We conducted a test with an autonomous vehicle using RoboCar® Mini EV Bus, an autonomous vehicle developed by ZMP.

In addition, this time, the world's first automatic judgment system of taxiway crossing by the aircraft detection function using AI technology such as image recognition has been carried out. We performed technology and service verification closer to actual operation, such as remotely opening and closing the door.

In the future, ZMP will promote the introduction of autonomous buses within the restricted areas of the airport as well as commercialization and sales of automated vehicles and associated services.

RoboCar® Mini EV Bus is based on a small EV bus made by China ANFUI ANKAI AUTOMOBILE that incorporates a ZMP control device so that the user can control it by inputting a control signal from an external device (PC or dedicated device). Equipped with the autonomous driving computer IZAC® developed by ZMP, it can be used to build services for autonomous personnel and luggage transportation.
