Released demonstration test video of Autonomous Driving vehicle conducted in restricted areas of Narita International Airport

-Within the airport restricted areas where environment and rules are different from public roads-

ZMP Inc. in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo (CEO , Hisashi Taniguchi , hereinafter ZMP) released a video of the demonstration experiment of the Autonomous driving vehicle in the restricted areas of Narita International Airport operated by Narita International Airport Corporation from January 28 to January 30, 2019.

This service demonstration is based on AIRO Inc. , a joint venture of Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter “Marubeni”) and ZMP Inc. (hereinafter “ZMP”). For the demonstration experiment the autonomous vehicle used is RoboCar® MiniVan developed by ZMP.

In this demonstration experiment, the opted route is of the Ground handling staff of Swissport Japan established by Marubeni. Through this demonstration experiment, we will confirm the issues and collect data on using Autonomous driving vehicles in the airport restricted areas where environment and rules are different from public roads.

Based on the results and issues of this demonstration experiment, ZMP will continue to promote the use of autonomous driving technology within the restricted areas of ​​Narita International Airport.
