Logistics support robot CarriRo® FD introduced at a warehouse of a mail order company

-A total of eight machines at two sites, reducing the number of workers by half-

ZMP Inc. in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo (CEO, Taniguchi Hisashi, hereinafter ZMP) introduced one logistics support robot CarriRo® FD (Following model) in March, 2019 for the purpose of improving the efficiency of the transfer work inside the warehouse. Later, introduced two additional machines to the same base, and another five additional bases were installed in the same month.​ ​

Gworker has started handling the beverage distribution of a major mail-order company since 2014, and is currently developing logistics business centering in Kanagawa and Saitama.

The company representative executive officer Toshifumi Sakai said that CarriRo®'s follow-up function is good for internal works.

Earlier, the system processing of incoming cargo was divided into two process and the storage operation was done with a forklift. After the introduction of CarriRo® the whole process can be summarized to one process.Two workers were required to complete the process and now when we started to use CarriRo® we just need a person.Hence, decided to introduce more machines.

In order to realize full automation, it was necessary to secure a huge amount of space and a large amount of capital investment, and we considered that it was not possible to meet the requirements demanded by 3PL companies. On the other hand, CarriRo® can be applied to the current state of operation, reducing the number of steps per capita, also possible to reduce the transport load. We are promoting the operation with the purpose of creating an environment that makes it easier for workers to work.

The logistics support robot CarriRo® is a product developed using ZMP 's Autonomous Driving technology. The purpose of CarriRo® is to save labor and increase efficiency by reducing load of carrying work in the logistics industry because of labor shortage due to the declining birthrate and aging population. The logistics support robot CarriRo® is particularly used in the logistics industry where human labor shortage is a severe crisis. Currently, CarriRo® has a track record of more than 100 users since the start of its sales and after the introduction of Autonomous Moving mode in November last year. CarriRo® has not only introduced in logistics bases and factories but also in-service industries like hotel.
