ZMP Co., Ltd. (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President: Hisashi Taniguchi, hereinafter referred to as ZMP) has conducted a public road demonstration experiment on autonomous driving in the Tokyo Odaiba / Ariake area and released its latest video.
ZMP commenced the demonstration experiment of autonomous driving in the state of the driver riding in the public road of Aichi prefecture in 2014, after that, there is a very large traffic volume toward Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo office where our office is located, and 2020 We have developed and verified functions such as lane change and intersection right / left turn in the environment of Odaiba etc. And in December of last year we conducted a public road demonstration experiment with the driver not riding in the driver's seat as the first nationwide. The state of the demonstration experiment on the public road has been released from January last year and this time it will be the 4th release.
In June 2017, ZMP started collaborating with Hinomaru Transportation Co., Ltd. to realize autonomous driving taxis, and we are developing and demonstrating services along with the development of autonomius driving technology. We will utilize the knowledge gained from this demonstration experiment to further develop the technology and improve safety and aim to realize Auto Taxi in 2020.
In this experiment, we expanded the route from the Odaiba area to the Ariake area, and with the driver in the driver's seat, Looking for the service in 2020, and (1) collaboration with smartphone · tablet, We verified that technology about information display for communication.
① Cooperation with smart tablet
Assuming the service, we confirmed that smart cooperation is possible by installing the vehicle call and door control by smartphone, the route by car tablet, confirmation of present location, getting off procedure etc, etc.
② Information display for communication with the surroundings
Assuming the service in the driver's seat when the driver is not on board, we installed an indicator to show the state of the automated driving vehicle. "Autonomous driving in progress" and "Thank you" are displayed, and the contents of the display are confirmed from the backward vehicle.
Note that these automatic operation technologies are developed based on RoboCar® MiniVan and IZAC® which are products of the automatic operation development platform developed by ZMP.
